Week 5 At-Home Learning

Monday Begin working on the Characterization Tracker for "The Most Dangerous Game." Tuesday Continue working on the tracker. Wednesday Finish the tracker. Thursday Read the article “Is Hunting Moral? A Philosopher Unpacks the Question” by Joshua Duclos. Friday Share your opinion on the topic based on personal experience, beliefs, and the information from the article on Google Classroom. 

Week 4 At- Home Learning

You will read a story all week and answer the questions embedded in the story. This story will be used in assignments for the next few weeks. Monday: Read pages 1-4 of  “The Most Dangerous Game”. Answer any questions in the boxes using complete sentences. Tuesday: Read pages 5-8 of  “The Most Dangerous Game”. Answer any questions in the boxes using complete sentences. Wednesday: Read pages 9-12 of  “The Most Dangerous Game”. Answer any questions in the boxes using complete sentences. Thursday Read pages 13-17 of  “The Most Dangerous Game”. Answer any questions in the boxes using complete sentences. Friday Read pages 18-20 of  “The Most Dangerous Game”. Answer any questions in the boxes using complete sentences.

Week 3 At-Home Learning

Assignments for all week. 1. Continue to write in your journal (separate post). 2. Write "The Interlopers" from a viewpoint of one of the characters, Ulrich or Georg. Writing Prompt: You have just read a short story, “The Interlopers”. Saki writes this short story from an omniscient point of view.  Rewrite the short story from the perspective of one of the characters while using first-person point of view. Be sure to use details from the original text.  Try to write for 15-20 minutes each day. Score your writing 4, 3, 2, 1, 0.  CLICK TURN IN WHEN YOU FINISH WRITING THE STORY

Week 2 - At Home Learning

Monday Reread “The Interlopers.” Watch a video on suspense and notice HOW authors create suspense. Make notes on how Saki creates suspense within the text.  Tuesday  Prepare to write an ending to the short story . Their ending must include... The same omniscient point of view setting/imagery An appropriate pace Dramatic Irony A Denouement to the plot.  Writing Prompt- You have just read a short story, “The Interlopers” by Saki. This text ends with a cliffhanger. Continue the short story by writing a denouement in an omniscient point of view. Outline/plan your writing.  Wednesday and Thursday. Write to the prompt 30 min. each day.  Revise and edit your narrative writing.   Score your narratives using the following scoring system: 4, 3, 2,1, 0
