Week 5

We hoped you enjoyed Labor Day! Students will continue their journey with Buck in the Klondike by reding Call of the Wild . Using Chapters 5-7, they will learn and or review  foreshadowing, plot, conflict, anthropomorphism, central idea, theme, and summary. Cycle 2 Vocabulary words will be given this week, so please have your student study them. 

Week 4

Students will read Chapters 2-4 of Call of the Wild this week. Using these chapters, students will learn about perspective/point of view, summary, conflict, and explicit vs. implicit.  They will continue reviewing and practicing identifying themes and central ideas as well.  Starting Tuesday, students will work on part three of the author study.  Students will take a cold quiz for a grade on Wednesday and the cycle one vocabulary quiz on Thursday . On Friday , students will take a quiz on Chapters 1-4 of Call of the Wild . Make sure to bring your personal book every day to class.

Week 3

We enjoyed our Klondike adventure last week! Before we can return to the world of Jack London, students must take the ELA NWEA on Monday and Tuesday. Then, the rest of the week will be spent working on the Jack London Author Study and reading Call of the Wild . Students will review central idea and theme with this text. There will be a cold quiz on Wednesday.

Welcome back!!! During this week we will get to know each other, learn expectations, prepare materials for the year, and take a pre-assessment.
