The assignments for this week are listed below. 

 This is a suggestion of one way for students to do the work this week. However, they are free to complete the work any way they feel works for them.

Monday:
Read “The Interlopers” short story.
Write a summary of the events that occurred.


Tuesday:
Watch the video on how setting can impact a text. (You will need to login to Actively Learn using Google)
Answer the following questions in Google Classroom
How does the setting impact the conflict?
Hows does the setting impact the plot?
How does the setting impact the context of the short story?
How does the setting impact the mood of the short story?
How does the setting impact the theme of the short story?

Wednesday:
Watch a video on characterization. (You will need to login to Actively Learn using Google)

A: Actions
L: Looks (character’s appearance)
Complete a quizizz with questions on direct and indirect characterization

Thursday:
Begin the tracker for "The Interlopers" short story.

Friday:
Finish the tracker.

 Daily: Work on Quarantine/ Covid-19 Journal

Students will take Cold Assessment 1.2 on Monday. The rest of the week will be spent learning about plays and terms like monologue and soliloquy. On Wednesday, students will take their Cycle 3 vocabulary quiz . On Friday, teachers will update the data for each student in their folder.

Week 7

 The week before the holiday break has arrived!  Students will spend this week finishing up their poetry projects, taking Mini Cold Assessment 2.2, and writing an on-demand essay/workshopping it. Any student that has been out will have an opportunity to make up work and/or take the NWEA. Friday will be a 60% day where students will make sure all assignments are complete.

Week 3

 Literary Analysis writing is the focus of this week. Students will learn about the purpose and structure of this type of writing in addition to how to write introductions and conclusions.  Theme will be reviewed from last year and new concepts related to this topic will be introduced including its development over the course of a text.  They will use "The Golden Windows," "The Scholarship Jacket," and "Sleepy Hollow" to practice these skills.  Students will take a cold quiz on a poem on Monday.
