Week 3

-
 The beginning of the week (Monday and Tuesday) will be spent assessing our skills on the NWEA test. We will use this data to set goals and improve our skills. Later in the week, we will practice taking cold quizzes, and we will take our real first cold quiz on Friday. The rest of the week will be spent reading chapters 10-13 of The Prince and the Pauper. To close the week we will complete a mini project on Elizabeth I and Mary Tudor in Google Classroom.

Students will take Cold Assessment 1.2 on Monday. The rest of the week will be spent learning about plays and terms like monologue and soliloquy. On Wednesday, students will take their Cycle 3 vocabulary quiz . On Friday, teachers will update the data for each student in their folder.

Week 7

 The week before the holiday break has arrived!  Students will spend this week finishing up their poetry projects, taking Mini Cold Assessment 2.2, and writing an on-demand essay/workshopping it. Any student that has been out will have an opportunity to make up work and/or take the NWEA. Friday will be a 60% day where students will make sure all assignments are complete.

Week 3

 Literary Analysis writing is the focus of this week. Students will learn about the purpose and structure of this type of writing in addition to how to write introductions and conclusions.  Theme will be reviewed from last year and new concepts related to this topic will be introduced including its development over the course of a text.  They will use "The Golden Windows," "The Scholarship Jacket," and "Sleepy Hollow" to practice these skills.  Students will take a cold quiz on a poem on Monday.
